Canada is known around the world as one of the best countries to live, boasting low criminality rates, interesting salaries and good social protection for its inhabitants. However, as a touristic destination, Canada is not particularly well-known yet. It does attract an interesting number of visitors during the winter season, with its numerous festivals, its maple syrup shacks and its beautiful snowy landscapes, but what about the summer time? Even for a Canadian, it is sometimes hard to realize how many things can be realized in such a big country, but let’s try to find some answers today. One of its main cities, Montreal, is a very good place to start.
Many summer festivals as well
Montreal’s cultural scene is extremely active during summer, and you might have a hard time finding out about all the great events that take place in the city. The first thing to do will be to book a great Montreal hotel that is able to provide you with touristic information regarding what there is to do.
The Jazz festival is known as a big classic in the city. The world’s best jazz musicians join up each year and play in Montreal’s biggest amphitheaters, and on outside scenes as well. In 2013, the festival will start from June 28th and will end on July 7th. Situated around downtown Montreal, it is sure to draw a huge crowd into the streets.
Another big event is the Formula 1 Grand Prix that takes place in the streets of Montreal in June. It is a very exciting race and has existed for decades already. It is definitely pretty expensive to grab tickets for it, and you’ll have to book a hotel room a few weeks in advance if you don’t want to be caught by surprise, but racing fans will love the party atmosphere, the beautiful women hanging around and the sound of engines racing through the streets of the city.
Different attractions to see
Aside from events, Old-Montreal is also a great place to walk around and enjoy the charm of the 17th century. Important spots include Point Calliere Museum and the Notre Dame Basilica. A lot of very good restaurants can also be found there!
To have a breathtaking view over the city, you might be interested to climb Mont Royal! You can either do hiking, bike to the top or even take a bus. Walking up there should not cost you a dime and you will enjoy the park’s summit’s installations.
Many more attractions could be covered here, but tourists should definitely have a look at Montreal’s Biodome. The various ecosystems that cohabit in Canada allow many different species to breed all over the country: depicted with great effort in the Biodome, these environments will make you discover many plants, animals and insects.
Depending on what you are looking to see, you’ll find many different paths to take in Montreal. One thing is sure, if you go out of your hotel room and you try as many things as possible, you will definitely not be disappointed by the city.
